A Second Glance (by Scott Strissel)
Is the candle still
a candle without its flame?
without his strength
was Samson still the same?
Can one be blind
even when their sight is fine?
I want to wrestle with angels
I want a moment of God’s time.
Is a sheep still
a sheep on the butcher’s floor?
Can blood become life…
and something more?
Can a heart still
be a heart without that drum?
Can the weary lay down
their burdens, cumbersome?
Is there more than
what we have inside?
He is alive but for
our stains He died.
This is more than fiction
or fairy tales.
Where story books close
and reality fails.
Some thing precious waits
for those who seek
The face of God come to
save the meek.
Is there more…you tell me?
