Soularize and the Power of Like (by Spencer Burke)
In the world of the “Like” button, we want to know the person who is recommending a resource, website or product. No more clever slogans and airbrushed images, we want someone who has tasted the coffee, visited the hotel, or read the book.
One of the great pleasures of hosting Soularize are people who attend because they have a friend that has “Liked” it, No iPad give aways or mega-big-name-headliners. Just friends of mine that I love to share with others.
The beauty of the event is the unique “space” it creates and holds for us as we gather. Soularize is more of a lifestyle of learning than a conference. Everyone brings something to the event, an idea, an affirmation, a gift to share. All of the workshops are submitted by those who are already attending, no green rooms, no hierarchy, just people who know they need each other and want a creative and safe place to explore what it means to follow Jesus and become the Church in our present situation.
At the last Soularize, I asked Richard Rohr and Tom Wright what they thought of the gathering and how they might explain it to others – the video below is their response/”Like”.
SPECIAL OFFER: Be sure to take advantage of a one-week special offer of $199 (ending Sunday, September 18th).
I hope you will consider coming to San Diego in October
I would love to have you join me this year.
